Fuse Board Installations
If your fuse board uses re-wireable fuses or doesn’t have RCD protection, it’s likely outdated. You may also notice flickering lights, frequent trips, or a burning smell. A qualified electrician can inspect and confirm whether a replacement is needed.
Most domestic fuse board replacements take between 3 and 5 hours, depending on your property’s wiring and the system’s complexity. Our electricians work efficiently to minimise any disruption.
Yes. Your electricity supply will be switched off while the old board is removed and the new one is fitted. Once testing is complete, power is restored, and you’ll receive full certification for the work.
Absolutely. Every installation carried out by Peaks Electrical includes full testing and certification under UK wiring regulations (BS 7671). You’ll receive all documents required for insurance and landlord approval.
They refer to the same thing, the central control point for your home’s electrical circuits. Modern consumer units are safer, featuring circuit breakers and RCDs for improved protection.
Yes. Peaks Electrical is City & Guilds qualified, Part P approved and fully insured. Our team follows strict safety regulations and ensures every installation meets the latest industry standards.
EICR Testing & Safety Reports
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a detailed inspection that checks the safety of your electrical system. It identifies faults, wear, and potential hazards, ensuring your home or business complies with current safety standards
For homeowners, an EICR is recommended every 10 years or when moving into a new property. For landlords or commercial premises, the recommended interval is every 5 years or at the start of each new tenancy.
Our electricians test wiring, fuse boards, sockets, and other components to assess their condition and safety. We look for potential fire risks, faulty circuits, and outdated installations, then provide a clear report with any necessary recommendations.
Each issue found is rated using standard codes from C1 to C3. C1 highlights immediate danger, C2 indicates potential risk, C3 suggests improvement is advised, and FI means further investigation is required.
If your report identifies C1 or C2 faults, they must be repaired before the property can be classed as safe. C3 recommendations are advisory, but completing them helps improve safety and compliance.
Yes, we can. Peaks Electrical offers complete fault-finding and repair services. Once all necessary work is completed, we’ll re-test the system and issue a certificate confirming compliance with current electrical regulations.
EV Charger Installations
Not necessarily. Most modern EVs don’t need to be charged daily unless you’re doing long journeys. Topping up as needed helps protect your battery and keeps your running costs low.
Charging time depends on your vehicle and charger type. A home wall unit typically charges a car overnight, while faster workplace chargers can top up in a few hours.
There are three main types: slow, fast, and rapid charging. Most homes use fast chargers, which balance convenience with efficiency.
No. Most installations are completed within a few hours. We arrange a time that suits you and keep disruption to a minimum.
Your charger safely supplies electricity from your home or business supply to your vehicle. The system monitors power flow and automatically shuts off when the battery is full.
Costs depend on the charger model and installation requirements. We’ll provide a clear, no-obligation quotation before any work begins.
Smart Heating Controls
Smart heating controls let you manage your home’s heating system through your smartphone, tablet, or voice assistant. They learn your routines, adjust automatically, and help you save energy while keeping your home comfortable.
Yes, most modern systems are compatible with traditional gas and combi boilers. Our electricians will check your setup during installation and ensure everything is connected safely and correctly.
Absolutely. With a Wi-Fi connection, you can adjust your home’s temperature from anywhere using the app, perfect if you’re heading home early or staying out longer than planned.
Savings vary by household, but most customers notice a reduction of around 10–20% once the system has learnt their routines and optimised heating schedules.
Your heating system will continue to follow its most recent schedule. Once your internet connection is restored, your smart controls will automatically resync with the app.
Yes, for safety and compliance, all installations should be carried out by a certified electrician. Peaks Electrical is fully qualified and Part P approved, ensuring your system meets UK wiring standards.
Lighting Upgrades
If your lights flicker, take time to brighten, or feel dim compared to modern fittings, it’s a good sign your wiring or fixtures are outdated. Upgrading improves both energy efficiency and safety.
es. We install smart lighting that can be controlled through mobile apps, voice assistants, or automated timers, perfect for convenience and energy savings.
Not necessarily. We can upgrade key areas first, such as kitchens, bathrooms, or outdoor spaces, and expand your setup later when you’re ready.
Modern LEDs use up to 80% less energy than traditional bulbs and can last up to 25 times longer, making them a cost-effective upgrade for any home.
While domestic incentives are limited, businesses may qualify for energy-efficiency grants or tax benefits. We can help advise on the best options available.
Not at all. Most upgrades are completed quickly with minimal mess or downtime. We always tidy up afterwards and ensure everything is fully tested before we leave.
